Assessors
The primary duty of the Assessor's Office is to discover, list and value within its jurisdiction within the Town of Bethlehem and then to establish the Grand List. The three classes of property are real estate, business personal property, and motor vehicles. All property is taxed at 70% of its fair market value.
Additionally, the staff also provides data to a wide variety of internal and external customers and administers a variety of tax relief programs for the elderly home owners, veterans, totally disabled and the blind who meet certain requirements.
The Assessors are also responsible for the administration of all State Grant programs that pertain to tax relief. The Assessors are accountable to the Office of Policy and Management.
