Town Clerk

It is the duty of the Town Clerk to receive and process all official records of the Town.  All Land Records are processed, recorded, microfilmed and indexed.  State and Local Conveyance Tax is collected and money turned over to the Town Treasurer monthly.  Vital Statistics are recorded and monthly reports are sent to the State.  Dog licenses are sold with monthly reports and money being sent to the State.  Marriage licenses are issued.   Bethlehem Municipal Refuse Disposal Area Permits are issued.  Land transfers are reported to the Assessors, Tax Collector and the State.  The Town Clerk also performs duties in connection with Elections and Referendums throughout the year, attends all Town Meetings (recording minutes in the Town Journal), and receives and files minutes of all Commissions and Boards.

There are several steps to vote by absentee ballot:

  • Complete and sign the application and return it to the Town Clerk's Office.
  • The Town Clerk's Office will process your application and mail you an absentee ballot.
  • Fill out the absentee ballot, seal it according to the instructions on the included envelopes and return it to the Town Clerk's Office by 8:00 PM on Election Day.

You can place your completed application or ballot in the official ballot drop box near the front entrance of Town Hall located at 36 Main Street South.

 Property Fraud Alert - NEW

The Town of Bethlehem has Launched a Property Fraud Alert Service to notify property owners of new transactions.
This is a FREE  tool to help property owners protect one of their most valuable assets.
Town Clerk, Katie Mayer, says "the subscription based program is an easy way for our homeowners to have peace of mind."
Property Fraud Alert is an electronic notification service that alerts a subscriber via email every time a land records
document like a deed, mortgage or lien is recorded.

The Bethlehem Town Clerk has made its land indices and records available online with records beginning June 8, 1937 to current. Recorded Land images are available from January 1946 to current.

 Environmental Monitor - Council on Environmental Quality

The Environmental Monitor is a publication of the Council on Environmental Quality.  Pursuant to CGS 22a-1b which provides that "the Council on Environmental Quality shall post the Environmental Monitor on is Internet site and distribute a subscription or a copy of the Environmental Monitor by electronic mail to any state agency, municipality or person upon request.  The Council shall also provide the Environmental Monitor to the clerk of each municipality for posting."
