Position Objectives:
Long Meadow Pond Recreation Area Manager (Seasonal Position) Under supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director, the Rec Area Manager is responsible for managing the operations of Long Meadow Rec Area, lifeguards, swim instructors and season passholders. This position oversees all aspects of the Recreation Area and the public beach with safety for everyone as a main concern.
Duties will include: Preseason hours preparing for the beach season: Memorial Day- Labor Day. Working with the Parks and Recreation Director preparing supply lists, creating schedules and procedures for staff. Update the welcome packet for Staff, including discipline policy. Help develop and implement Emergency Action Plans and Risk Avoidance Procedures on the grounds and waterfront. Attend and help coordinate hiring and training for staff. Oversees and monitors the day-to-day operations, safety, and the grounds at Long Meadow Recreation Area. Monitor safety for all aspects of the Park; the public, equipment, playground, restroom area, etc. Assist in running swim lesson program. Training staff, scheduling, and working with Director to have available lessons to the public. Evaluate staff, making sure assistance or further direction is not needed. Set and supervise opening and closing procedures for staff. Be able to recognize, prevent, and correct all safety issues. Act as a key player in problem solving any staff, camper, or season pass holder; be able to identify and respond to any issues. Communicates and reports to the Parks and Recreation Director weekly. Report on any issues with staff, campers, maintenance, the public, etc. Post Season hours will include working with the Parks and Recreation Director on Staff performance reviews, community volunteer hours letter, inventory, and review of Rec Area as a whole.
Expected Work Schedule: Pre and Post Season hours- TBD May 23, 2026 - September 7, 2026 - 40 hours per week, Weekend/Holiday Availability a must
Requirements: Prior experience at a public waterfront Management/ Leadership experience CPR/First Aid Certification Lifeguard Certification preferred Must be minimum of 18 years of age Ability to learn computer software program and help train staff Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations. Ability to communicate effectively with patrons, and other employees.
