                                                                                                                           Annual & Special Town Meeting

                                                                                                                                   March 12, 2026, 7:30 PM

 

 

The electors and citizens qualified to vote in Town Meetings in the Town of Bethlehem are hereby notified and warned that the Annual & Special Town Meeting will be held on March 12, 2026, at 7:30 PM in Memorial Hall 10 Veterans Way, Bethlehem CT, for the following purposes:

 

1)      To receive and act upon the Annual Report of the Town Offices, Agencies, Boards, and Commissions for the Fiscal Year 2024-2025.

2)      To authorize the Board of Selectmen to borrow money as may be necessary to meet current expenses.

3)      To set the date for the Annual Budget Meeting.

4)      To amend Chapter 98-9 of the Town of Bethlehem Code of Ordinances, Alcoholic beverages.

5)      To authorize that the administration of the Renters Rebate Program shall be transferred from the duties of the Assessor to the Municipal Assistance Coordinator.

6)      To elect three members to the Employee’s Appeals Board.

Proposed Amendment to Bethlehem Code of Ordinances

TOWN OF BETHLEHEM

ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PROHIBITION OF ALCOHOL

IN TOWN RECREATIONAL FACILITIES

 

Section 1. Authority

This ordinance is adopted pursuant to General Statutes Sections 7-148(c)(6)(A)(i) and 7-148(c)(7)(H)(xii), which authorize municipalities to control and regulate uses of town property  and town recreational facilities, including the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages on such property and in such facilities.

 

                                 

Section 2. Amendment to the Code of Ordinances

The Code of Ordinances of the Town of Bethlehem, Connecticut, chapter, 98, “Parks and Recreational Facilities”, § 98-9, “Alcoholic beverages”, is repealed and replaced with the following:

 

       “§ 98-9 Alcoholic beverages.

A.    No person shall drink or possess any alcoholic beverage in any recreational facility, except in the case of a town-sponsored, public event where possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages have been specifically permitted by the Board of Selectmen.

B.     The Board of Selectmen may, after public notice and a hearing, adopt and from time-to-time amend, a written policy setting standards for permitting the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages at town-sponsored, public events in any recreational facility.”

 

 

Section 3.

This ordinance shall take effect fifteen (15) days after publication of a summary of its provisions pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes, section7-157(b).
